Every ECG machine here records a standard 12-lead ECG; the channel count is how many leads are printed side by side. Three-channel machines suit clinics and GP practices, six-channel machines suit nursing homes and wards, and twelve-channel machines with interpretation suit hospitals, cardiology clinics and diagnostic centres. Holter monitors record the ECG for 24 hours or longer to catch rhythm problems that a resting ECG can miss.
